I drew this illustration long before I became a mom. The symbol “Mother” has much meaning. We can express it in colors:
-Green represents the protective nature of mothers.
-Yellow alludes to their optimistic outlook towards life and for their children.
-Pink captures their compassionate and nurturing side.
-Red focuses on their passion and empowerment drive.
We also talk about MOTHER EARTH, since our planet represents the same values.
BEARS stand for power, motherhood and fortitude.
The DAY LILY is associated with motherhood because of its beautiful appearance.
I feel grateful that once a year we celebrate all the mothers in our lives and feel grateful for their amazing presence.
In class today we will honor this tradition by checking in with our “inner mother”, our heart.
In our poses and movements, we will practice with the hands, wrists, heart, lunges and shoulders.
They all express the natural flow of our heart.
Please bring a blanket and a strap ( or belt, scarf, towel ) to class.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Much love,
Marielle
A picture memory brings to me; I look across the years and see Myself beside my mother’s knee. I feel her gentle hand restrain My selfish moods, and know again A child’s blind sense of wrong and pain. But wiser now, a man gray grown, My childhood’s needs are better known. My mother’s chastening love I own. John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-92)
