“To march to the beat of our own drum” means: "to do something, act, or behave in a manner that does not conform to the standard, prevalent, or popular societal norm."
This authenticity creates resilience.
It offers us the ability to bounce back, change course, or accept a situation so that we can grow and learn to be ourselves.
It is a courageous decision to swim against the ‘social' current.
In many cultures the drum is a sacred tool connecting heaven and earth. The sound compares to a human’s heartbeat and resembles the heartbeat of Mother Earth.
In Yoga we practice this quality by connecting deeply to our own breath rhythm and by discovering the experience of presence in our bodies and minds;
"the inner-net, instead of the internet.”
-Amma
In Yoga class we create an environment to truly listen and to find our inner compass.
Yoga is synonymous with centering, vitality, strength, stability, movement and a calm mind.
We learn to respond instead of react and to be leaders instead of followers.
In class today we will focus on the flow of our breath, the most intimate and honest relationship we can develop with ourselves.
We will also practice “eye” Yoga.
Much love,
Marielle
